AAUW provides more than $3.7 million in funding per year to outstanding women and nonprofit organizations. Member leaders can be ambassadors for the fellowships and grants programs to attract diverse candidates. Branches can also connect with local recipients to hold engaging programs, help recipients create strong networks, and support AAUW’s work. E-mail fellowships@aauw.org to request contact information.
- Community Action Grants: provide seed money to women, AAUW branches, and local community-based nonprofit organizations for innovative programs or non-degree research projects that promote education and equity for women and girls, must be U.S. citizens. Grants range from $2,000 to $10,000.
- Dr. J. Jeanne Garrison Research & Project Grant In 2002, our branch established the research and project grant in the name of Dr. J. Jeanne Garrison, a longtime supporter of education.
- American Fellowships: support women scholars completing doctoral dissertations, conducting postdoctoral research, or finishing research for publication, must be U.S. citizens.
- Career Development: support women who hold a bachelor’s degree and are preparing to advance or change careers or re-enter the work force, must be U.S. citizens. Grants range from $2,000 to $12,000.
- Selected Professions: provide opportunities for women to pursue graduate and first-professional degrees in designated fields where women traditionally have been underrepresented and where the employment outlook and earnings potential are strong, must be U.S. citizens. These fields include: Architecture, Computer/Information Sciences, Engineering and Mathematics/Statistics. Grants for women of color are accepted in these fields: Business Administration, Law and Medicine. Grants range from $5,000 and $12,000.
- International Fellowships: for full-time study or research to women who are not U.S. citizens. Both graduate and postgraduate studies are supported. Selection is based on an outstanding academic record, professional potential, and the potential of the field of study to improve the lives of women and girls in the fellow’s country of origin. Grants range from $18,000 to $30,000.
